While expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) was thought to be an inert material for grafted vessels, it shows a slight tendency for graft growth through endothelialization. The aim of this study is to evaluate the long-term changes in thrombogenicity of ePTFE grafts after transplantation. Serial levels of thrombin-antithrombin III complex (TAT), D-dimer, C-reactive protein (CRP), and prothrombin time (PT) were assessed in 77 patients after implantation of ePTFE Y grafts for five years.
